Karnak Temple

Valley Of The Kings
The Valley of the Kings is a vast valley sandwiched between two mountains that are lined with rock-cut tombs. During the New Kingdom era of Egypt (1500 BCE), when its capital was Thebes (now Luxor), the ancient valley was the burial ground for the Egyptian Pharaohs. The tombs were an architectural gem of that time and their grandeur and impressiveness can still be seen today. The tombs were filled with food and other essential items as the pharaohs believed they would have a need for it in the afterlife.

Hatshepsut Temple
The ancient Hatshepsut Temple honors Hatshepsut, the first woman to rule Ancient Egypt alone for 21 years during the New Kingdom era of Egypt. Built in 1464 BCE, the ancient structure is one of the rarest of its kind among the ancient ruins of the area and is a major tourist destination in Luxor. One of the greatest architectural gems in its time, the site is heavily visited by tourists every year, who brave the heat and visit Luxor’s most prominent landmark.

Colossi Of Memnon
One of the most popular destinations in Luxor, the Colossi of Memnon is a wonderful and a must-visit place for those who love Ancient Egyptian history. The Colossi are two enormous and ancient stone sculptures that depict Pharaoh Amenhotep III sitting and gazing out at the Nile River. They were built in 1350 BC at the entrance of Amenhotep’s mortuary temple to impose their might upon the visitors of the temple.

Deir El-medina
A home to the workers who worked extensively on various tombs in the Valley of the Kings, Deir el-Medina is one of the most fascinating sites in Luxor. It was home to the workers of many tombs of the pharaohs, with evidence and historical documents relating to normal life in the settlement in that era still surviving to this day. One of the most fully preserved ancient sites in Egypt, it provides an excellent chance for history lovers to know more about life in that era of Ancient Egypt.

Valley Of The Queens
A more beautiful counterpart to the tombs of the Kings, Valley of the Queens contains the beautifully preserved tombs of the former queens and their childrens of Ancient Egypt. Excavated in the 1900’s by an Italian archeologist, the interior of the complex is lavishly adorned with wonderful artworks and various hieroglyphs. Containing over 90 tombs of various people, it is one of the best sites to discover Ancient Egypt’s culture, arts in Luxor.
