Overview
A site of unity and nationalistic identity, Anitkabir infuses a patriotic fervor in the Turkish people’s hearts. Called “grave monument” in Turkish, it is the resting place of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The founder of Turkey’s remains were laid to rest in 1953 in the complex located in Ankara. The style of architecture in the monument is a nod to the previous cultures and identities of the people who lived in Anatolia.
